If you had to choose one word to sum up our data analytics company mission it would be: EMPOWERMENT.
We empower organisations to know themselves and plan for the future based on clever and efficient use of data. This is the basis of our core business. But empowerment for us doesn’t stop with our business. Empowering local communities, social justice initiatives and environmental not-for-profit organisations, have all been the beneficiaries of our IT company’s philanthropy.
Toustone is not a huge company, we are a regionally based SME in Australia, made up of a team of highly skilled people, motivated by having purpose, and believing in walking their talk.
This year alone, the Toustone Charities Committee has organised donations for Greening Australia, Boys to the Bush, Albury Wodonga Regional Foodshare and Border Trust.
We have even recently adopted a platypus!
OK disclaimer: the Toustone team did not literally adopt an actual platypus. They did however support the WWF Australia Adopt a Platypus campaign. Adoptions enable the WWF to work towards preventing these marvellous little creatures disappearing from our landscapes.
Toustone CEO Craig Lefoe, said he was proud of his team for their choice of this year’s charities/not-for-profits.
“At Toustone, we get a real kick out of hearing about the incredible community projects our donations are supporting,” Craig said.
“You hear a lot about strengthening ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) but what does that actually mean? For us, especially as a data analytics company, we value seeing direct and tangible results for our communities.”
“One of my favourites from this year’s choice of charities is Boys to the Bush – a not-for-profit teaching vulnerable young boys how to be good men and letting nature work its magic in navigating a sturdy road into adulthood.”
The Toustone Charities Committee is made up of a dedicated group from across the organisation: Senior Business Analyst Heather Fielding, Chief Marketing Officer Marilyn Martin, Operations Support Peter Hodgins, Administrative Assistant Alison M and Privacy and Contracts Manager Katie S.
Charities Committee Chair Katie, said she was also excited by this year’s choice of Australian charities.
“I love Greening Australia’s ethos – they are not just about planting trees, but rebuilding entire ecosystems to strengthen Australia’s unique biodiversity,” Katie said.
Katie said it was important for her to embrace ideas of reciprocity, especially your local community.
“I love where I work and I love where I live, so it is also great to see our team get behind two local place-based charities, Albury Wodonga Regional Food Share and Border Trust. Both support the Albury-Wodonga and surrounding communities across both sides of the NSW-Vic border, AW Regional Foodshare through the distribution of food to those experiencing financial hardship and Border Trust through a range of inspiring community based projects.”
Toustone 2024 Supported Charities:
Boys to the Bush – aims to support disengaged and vulnerable boys to become better men in the future through a range of programs, including mentoring, bush camps and school programs.
Albury Wodonga Regional FoodShare – The Buy a Brick Fundraiser helps FoodShare to raise funds to provide a new warehouse facility. Toustone also supported the general food program to help two local families, who are struggling, to get back on their feet.
Border Trust – The ‘Give500’ program provides grants to local not-for-profit and community organisations to support projects designed to meet various needs in local communities. Community and NFP organisations are invited each year to pitch their project and each ‘Give500’ member votes on which projects to support that year.
Greening Australia – Toustone supported conservation and restoration work to improve Australian land, air and water quality and restore animal habitats and ecosystems.
